I like to think that generally we are healthy, strong people but lately I have been getting more and more nervous about not having the stamina for our longer hikes... especially carrying about 30 lbs on my back! I have started a workout regimen for the remaining few weeks before we ship out. Pulling from a few different resources, here is my hiking specific workout schedule:
WEEK 1:
MONDAY 6/8/15 -
- Rest :)
TUESDAY 6/9/15 -
- AM Stretches: 30 minutes of yoga
- PM Cardio: Fast walk 40 minutes
WEDNESDAY 6/10/15 -
- PM Cardio: 25 minutes walk/run
- PM Strength: (15) Squats, (40) Step Up Fronts, (20) Step Up Lefts, (20) Step Up Rights, (10) Push Ups, (50) Crunches, (60 sec) Plank
- PM Stretches: 20 minutes of yoga
THURSDAY 6/11/15 -
- AM Stretches: 30 minutes of yoga
- PM Cardio: 40 minutes of stairs
FRIDAY 6/12/15 -
- PM Cardio: 30 minutes walk/run
- PM Strength: 2 sets of (15) Squats, (40) Step Up Fronts, (20) Step Up Lefts, (20) Step Up Rights, (10) Push Ups, (50) Crunches, (60 sec) Plank
- PM Stretches: 20 minutes of yoga
SATURDAY 6/13/15 -
- AM Endurance: 2-3 hour walk, with 15 lbs in pack

- Rest :)

- PM Cardio: 30 minutes walk/run
